Dal Pals Program - Care for Life
Here I am just a day before my last lifesaving surgery. Doc gave my a very slim chance of survival after my bladder had burst. That was almost one year ago. Miss Pati took the risk of surgery and I am alive today to tell my story!
My name is Blue (for my ocean blue eyes) and I've been at Dal Rescue since 2000 where I was found at the city dump. It took Miss Pati two very stormy days and nights to catch me, but she was successful and I was very grateful. Along the years, I've had a history of bladder stones and have had a couple surgeries, been put on special diets and daily meds and closely monitored.
Last year, without any warning, my bladder ruptured and I was rushed to the emergency vet. Since I was 10 years of age at the time, Doc said surgery was a great risk and that I may not make it, suggesting that Dal Rescue say goodbye to me.
I know Miss Pati felt in her heart that there was a glimmer of hope and was not about to give up on me after all these years. She asked to take me outside for a short walk while she gave very careful thought to what Doc had just told her. It was just then, that a burst of energy came over me and I pulled Miss Pati over to her truck as if to say, "take me home". When Miss Pati felt my tug on the leash, she also knew I was tugging at her heart to fix me and make me better so I could live longer. That's just what she did. Without time on my side and facing a very expensive vet bill, Miss Pati gave the go ahead and said lots of prayers that she could make it work.
Several thousand dollars later, and a very long recovery I'm still here and loving life! I owe my lifetime of gratitude to Dal Rescue for saving my life yet again. I know if I haven't found my forever home by now, I probably won't, but you know, just to be alive is enough for me......the kindness and sacrifice that Dal Rescue made just for little ole me is worth it. My appreciation is paid in all the tail wags and wet kisses I can give.
It's Dals like me that really stretch the medical budget to the max and cause so much financial debt and fret for the organization. But, that's what Dal Rescue is all about..........fixing broken bones and mending shattered hearts! I would not be alive without them!
Please help contribute to any of us care for life and special needs Dals. Your monthly donation could mean the difference between life and death for one of us! Dal Rescue exists solely on donations and every penny given is applied directly to the care of Dals like me. The healthy ones get spayed/neutered and such and go on to live in wonderful forever homes while the care for life Dals in this special program often get overlooked. We need your help!
Most often the general public never knows how much it costs just to provided medical care and creature comforts for all of us unless Dal Rescue sends out a special or urgent appeal. I guess I have taken it upon myself to be the "self appointed spokesDal" for us longing to live quality, happy lives.
So, if you would like to be a part of saving a life, extending a life or want to help in any way, please contact Dal Rescue today!!

With much appreciation,
Blue
