With the warning that Hurricane Charley was fast approaching in 2004, this gentle giant "Goliath" was given up by his family to a local west coast Florida shelter. When the storm hit, it took the roof off the shelter Goliath and countless other pets were housed in. Goliath along with the others were moved to another overcrowded shelter. Dal Rescue got the call that our assistance was needed and we went to rescue.
Goliath was soon adopted and he and his new dad became fast friends. Everywhere Mike went, so did loyal Goliath. Over the years Goliath developed numerous conditions with his ears, often painful and infected, requiring surgery. Just as Mike contemplated the vet's suggestion at yet another procedure, Goliath took a turn for the worse and made it known to his master that his time was fast approaching. Steadily declining, Goliath's condition became intolerable. Mike said a very sad and tearful farewell to his faithful and trusted companion today who will be sorely missed. God speed Goliath, you were loved and very special!
