A Memorial Tribute to Hattie

Hattie

"Ms. Hattie was about 14 months old when she was found wandering in a county owned preserve known as Hattie Bauer Hammock.  Hattie's hope started in February 2000 when she stole my heart and ended on February 6, 2011 when she tragically passed away after a head injury.  She loved without condition, freely giving kisses (with and without request) and quickly learning all the crazy tricks I taught her...

Hattie

She was my snuggle buddy, my lap dog and my comforter through many difficult times, often licking the tears from my face when I cried.  In 2001, I decided that Hattie needed a pal.  I thought she could be a special friend to a deaf dog, so she led me to Dalmatian Rescue. There, she selected her life long buddy, Davis, who immediately stole her toys and bed when he came home with us.  She didn't complain and became the "security blanket" that Davis needed to negotiate and flourish in his silent world.  In return, Davis loved her to the very end, laying at her side during her last hours with us. I am deeply grieving the loss of Hattie, but she the legacy she left me in her life long buddy, Davis, has been a wonderful source of strength and comfort.  Davis misses Hattie too and is slowly adjusting to getting a different kind of love and attention than what he got from Hattie.  We know that she is happy now and although she is gone for a short while, we know we will see her again soon.  Until then, she is forever with us in our hearts."
Much love,
Molly & Davis (aka Davie-boy)
