07.19.2020 – Oreo shares Skywalker’s ride south.
As things often happen, we have a twist in our “tail” today. At the last moment, DRSF learned of another Dal in need. Originally rescued from a bad street situation, Oreo and her human become homeless recently. Oreo’s human can shelter with family, but not Oreo. A family member is extremely allergic and can not have a dog living with them. After much heartache, Oreo’s human has asked DRSF to take Oreo into our care. Skywalker didn’t mind company on the trip, so we are making it happen. Welcome aboard Oreo!!

Hello Francesca. As far as I know, Skywalker is still available. Please review our adoption steps page for an overview of the process. We require an adoption application, an interview with our director, and a home visit. Due to COVID, we are trying to do virtual home visits. Completing the adoption application places you in the queue to adopt and is required along with the interview and home visit. We have already submitted an online application with your rescue. Based on Skywalker’s profile and need for attention he would be our first choice since we have BOTH playful children AND an energetic Weimaraner pup of a year old that needs companionship. Our children are all homeschooled and are very involved in both the obedience and agility training of our Weim for dog shows as part of their upbringing and incorporated in their schooling at home curriculum. Our second choice based on profile and needs would be Rollo. Being that we do everything from home we can dedicate time and hands-on attention that he needs with very little time left alone.
